Vim is hard to use. Would it be worth it to learn it?
I don’t find it difficult, but I’m mostly joking. If Nano works for you, stick with that. I’m sure your cat will learn to accept and love you regardless 😉
It’s not that hard after all, but requires some attention span at least initially

The only real benefit of vim IIRC is that it’s always included in an installation. The other text editors may need to be separately downloaded/installed on new or unfamiliar systems.
Like the other user said, if nano works for you, keep it. If you ever are forced to use vim however, a cheatsheet like this one should make it doable. (And yes, hitting esc a couple times before entering any command is a common practice to make sure you exited a mode)
But if you type the other command too fast after hitting Esc, it might be treated as Alt and do the wrong thing completely.
It’s also faster/easier for people who know how to use it as you don’t have to take your hands off the keyboard and can zoom around, people that don’t know their way around Vim however find it more annoying to use.

I’ve heard people have strong beliefs about text editors but this is ridiculous!
Vim is quite hard to use @-@. I would have to learn using it and that is not easy. So far I’m satisfied with using VS code and nano.
Off topic: Are there monitors with gorilla glass that can resist a cat scratch?

my cat goes after my laptop all the time and it’s never gotten scratched. The rubber on the corners however have gotten a tad bitten lol
Capacitive touch monitors would be close, but they tend to be expensive and just ust regular glass. (still could resist a cat scratch as long as there isn’t any grit/sand stuck in the claws)
You could probably put a sheet of glass in front of your monitor… Haven’t seen any glass monitors I believe.
