. . . that everyone hates so hard they give them loads of money.
I wish they all hated me like that.
People also dont get the differece between average and marginal. Adding consumption doesn’t build more wind farms. Adding extra electricity consumption means in short run burning more coal and gas. They are the ones that can be ramped up / ran more hours.
In the long run they might build more nuclear, but that takes a (very) long time. Generally they’re building solar and wind pretty fast already, it is hard (costly) to ramp that up.
Adding new sources of electricity consumption just keeps the fossil fuel power stations running for longer. Efficiiency is stuff like electric mass transit to replace as many car trips as possible - and using as much wires as possible instead of batteries. But no all the money will go into facilities and subsidy for battery powered cars.

Farthest i’ve gone is London to Berlin - but I had a few days in a few other cities on the way . . . so maybe that doesn’t count.
More normally 2-3 hours so I can go after work and be back in bed by say 1-2 a.m. Sometimes i’d stay over in a hostel and get the first train back - but same distance really.

yes, I think the main thing is when the nonfree firmware was included (user can opt-out) as a default at install. So out of the box support for most common hardware became way better.
It was always pretty easy to add nonfree repositories, but having to manually sort out wifi firmware after an install was a pain.
You can add them as non-steam games - via steam in desktop mode.
Others have mentioned various tools or launchers that make it easier. I didn’t like any of those tools though so I just add the games manually - i only have a 4-5 on there at a a time and i dont get through games very fast.
That’s why you should make sure they all have access to guns.
really good research skills? you’re going to need more than an internet connrection.
Volk’s electric railway, 1883. Only a narrow gague tourist type thing but still technically a passenger railway.
I went to a university that thinks of itself as prestigious - though not a US one. The teaching and the course were a bucketful of shite. All it really had was decent libraries. There was the odd smart person, but they all did mostly research and were hardly involved in teaching.
Admittedly, I chose a stupid subject that I now know to be useless, but the university shuld have known that and not offered the course in the first place. It was a massive waste of my time. Fortunately for me our Government covered most of the fees - but that just makes it a waste of other peoples money.
The whole thing seemed largely to be a badging excercise for a bunch of posh cunts.
risc-V laptops might compete with arm in a few years - maybe not for power users, but for most simpl use , or for those who will just ssh into real computer.
