  • was guaranteed to lose against Kamala and then far-right would splinter and die out and everything would be fine again

At this point the only thing I’m hoping for is that this happens in 4 years when Trump can’t legally run as president again. No figurehead, no MAGA.

    Wishful thinking, but possible.

As for the democratic party, yeah pretty much. I think it’s been clear for a while that voters are unhappy with the DNC and reluctantly accept the lack of actual progressive policy. Much like the Republican party has been split from MAGA and “classical conservatism” for lack of a better phrase, the Democratic party has been split between liberals and leftists.

The difference is that classical conservatives will always vote in party lines, making the MAGA figurehead their guaranteed pick.

Democratic don’t always pick their party line. Sometimes we get independents or multiple Democrats, sometimes we just don’t show up to vote if the candidate isn’t as good as they should be. So like many have been saying, if we get an actual leftist candidate, it’s possible we would actually have significantly higher voter turnout.

  • From another article,

At a recent campaign stop, Trump himself floated two potential candidates who he said could oversee the dismantlement of the education department: Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur who ran for the GOP nomination before dropping out and endorsing Trump, and former U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin of New York, who left Congress last year after an unsuccessful bid for governor.

“I’m going to close the Department of Education and move education back to the states. And we’re going to do it fast. We’ll get somebody great,” Trump said Sept. 23 in Indiana, Pa. “Lee Zeldin is here with us tonight. I think that’s a job for Lee or Vivek, or we’ll get somebody. We like Vivek. We need somebody with a lot of energy, a lot of strength, energy, and intelligence.”

It’s uncertain if Trump really sees Ramaswamy or Zeldin as potential education secretaries, or if he was simply giving the two of them a shout-out because they happened to be on the scene. (Ramaswamy has been a warm-up act for Trump at other campaign events, though it’s not clear if he was present that evening.)

Trump has also mentioned Ramaswamy for other key roles in his administration, including suggesting this month at a campaign stop in Scranton, Pa., that he’d be great at negotiating trade issues with French President Emmanuel Macron.

  • 100%. Now we have a president who historically hasn’t paid small businesses because they can’t afford to fight it, promoting actual hate crimes, and all too happy to appoint more Christian Conservatives who loathe, and I mean fucking despise queer people.

People didn’t even need to vote for the President to prevent a Republican Senate, but no.

I’ve already seen suicide posts (with confirmed bodies) in my local groups and there’s people here commenting that America needs to kill itself and nothing of value will be lost.

I’m at my wits end with it all. I understand not wanting to vote for Harris, I’m from Oakland. I don’t understand not caring that Republicans control Senate, Supreme Court, and presidency. I do not understand not caring that these are politicians who have actively called for violence. I do not understand being amenable to “cleaning up the mess Democrats left us”, when we had the power to fix this by voting, and it just wasn’t worth it to 20 million, fucking 120 million people.

“But Harris Bad because she’s a billionaires president anyway” meanwhile 2016 regulations decimated against corporations who pollute, tax cuts beyond belief and Covid skyrocketing billionaires wealth.

“But Harris genocide” meanwhile Donald “finish the job” Trump’s previous administration assassinating starting the whole genocide in the first place

“But Harris no policies” meanwhile Trump campaigning on deporting political protestors supporting Gaza along with minorities regardless of citizenship

“but the DNC needs to learn its lesson”. Well, the lesson will be learned from the individuals who have already killed themselves, the individuals who will suffer at the state level without any federal protections, our generations will suffer from education policies out into place from people like Betsy DeVoss, the sister to Blackwater’s Erik Prince, and we will be lucky if Americans aren’t ripped from their homes for being someone the conservatives don’t like.

No one can blame the Harris Campaign for not voting in the local elections, because your ballot is more than just your presidential vote. The sad fact of the matter is that even if every single Democratic vote was a third party instead, the results would be the same. Because people. Didn’t. Vote.

  • Because Greens take insane amounts of donations from right wing donors, don’t have any issues getting investments in big oil, don’t do anything outside of election years, have hardly any positions in actual government (4 mayors, 17 council board members across states and not even all of them are actually are, that’s being generous). The Green Party in its current state is quite literally a scam and should not be supported.

The other ones you mentioned are fine.

  • The issue isn’t how people used their votes. The issue is that 20 million people didn’t show up to vote.

With the math available, every single Democratic voter could have voted 3rd party and Trump would still have won. Third party voters had little to no effect on this election, outside of those who were swaying to say don’t vote at all. 50 to 100 thousand third party votes from each state just don’t make the numbers needed for the E.C. votes.

We needed voters, period. They didn’t show up.
