“Rules for thee, but not for me!”

Polls show that two-thirds of Republicans say this one US state has done more damage than good for the country, and that almost half of them don’t consider it “American” at all. Beyond political party, fully half of adult Americans say in polls that California is in decline.

This is all fine by me. I am still a proud Californian. And the fact that I live in this wonderful state is a major consolation to me when it comes to where the country is heading. The funny thing is, of course, that our state is much more pragmatic and moderate than the political pundits will acknowledge. Are e perfect? No. But we adapt and don’t get caught up on ideology as much as many other states.

My hope is that our size, power, and common sense will insulate us to some degree from some of the craziness that will hit the country in the next four years. I also hope that we can help Oregon and Washington State somehow too, if they want it.

Let the out-of-state cynics believe we are in decline. Their ignorance and under-estimation of us will only take the spotlight off us. And that will help us to keep moving forward and innovating.

Going at speeds that simulate a couple of thousand Gs and then turning on a dime? Going effortlessly from the air into the ocean and then traveling underwater at the speed of a Russian torpedo? And back in the 1980s? C’mon, seriously! No, none of that can be explained by it being a powerful quadcopter.

Except that some of the objects reported by military personnel defied our current understanding of the laws of physics. Objects being tracked moving in ways that would ensure thousands of Gs, and then turning on a dime. And showing no signs of stress, whereas an F16 starts going through structural failure around 17 Gs.

And this isn’t a new thing. Some of the craft moving at insane rates were reported by credible military witnesses back in the 1950s and '60s.

If we’re going to trust that the witnesses know what they are talking about (and I we have no reason to not), then we need to also trust that they aren’t just being hoodwinked by skunkworks type human/terrestrial vehicles. These guys aren’t ignorant, superstitious yokels. They are people of science who have tried to find rational explanations, but none makes sense.

If so they are seeing are cutting-edge human technology then there is a massive disconnect in what DARPA or whoever are coming up with and what is available to the public. Like conventionally hundreds of years of technological progress difference.

I can see how the Saudis would be pretty happy about Trump coming in again. He and his family got pretty cozy with them the first time. And Trump is very hostile to Iran, who are Saudi Arabia’s main rival in that part of the Muslim world.

You can’t fault the spuds’ determination to out under-perform us.

Us: were just going to put in a half-hearted effort and settle for a draw against Chelsea.

That’s no vote really disappointed me. Probably the most disappointing of all of them.

I suspect they are planning to move Per up from the Academy, and then recruit Tomas to fill that Academy position.

According to the wording it’s only supposed to be for children who murder someone under the auspices of terrorism. But I get the feeling the terrorism term will become the driving force for the imprisonments. Also, the condition where they can imprison children for 10 days if they are deemed to pose a threat is a really broad that is very prone to abuse.

Yeah that’s not going to happen. If we haven’t been able to make any significant inroads on mitigating climate change in the last 20 years, we sure as hell aren’t going to with the rise of strident climate change denier politicians to power all over the world. We are fucked.

I wonder how long it will be before the Supreme Court awards these sock puppet accounts with personhood, just like they did corporations.

I don’t recall right now, but there were several decent ones in the summer transfers list that I maintained here during the last transfer window.

I see this as a symptom of our mediocre attacker recruitment during the summer. We brought in Merino (while I know he’s capable of scoring, it’s not his biggest strength), and Sterling on a loan (who I had low expectations of but he has still underperformed overall IMO). Meanwhile we got rid of ESR and some others (Nelson, Vieira - though TBF they were dead wood).

We have excellent resources in defense, but we are thin in attack. And the strategy seemed to be to hope we got no major injuries, which was incredibly naive. So when Odegaard got injured we were screwed. We need 3 or 4 quality attacking players to challenge for the title. But honestly, with 3 losses already, and the fact that the January transfer window is notoriously difficult, and now with no Edu… our title challenge is likely done for the season.

Good to see Area is giving the likes of Nwaneri and MLS more play time. That’s a good idea. Hopefully they can both come of age this season and add a whole new dimension. But we can’t hope for a good if teenagers to full in like that. Spend big in January, if we can. Or just resign ourselves to trying to get a CL spot and regroup for next season.
