Ending the decade with a global depression.

I’ve always like this metaphor. Alexander Woolcott called striking coincidences “the universe caught in the veriest act of rhyming.”

I love the Twain quote but I’m also a fan of this contemporary parallel observation; the number one thing you learn by studying history is that humans never learn a goddamn thing from history
