It’s still a lot of fun to laugh your way through them

If you’re on this binge and want some recs. “Talk to me” and “late night with the devil” are my favorites so far this year. “Longlegs” was really bad imo.

Longlegs could have been very good but they fucked it hard. The “lead” detective, the M. Night Shyamalan twist, and too much Cage hurt it bad. The final scene with Cage was amazing but that should have been the only real look at him.

“Late night with the devil” was really good. Touched enough points to be good but not over the top. Run time was perfect.

Talk to me was one of the first horror movies in a long long time that actually got to me, highly recommended if anyone is on the fence

I found it super corny personally and knowing how it was going to end 20 minutes into it’s showtime wasn’t helpful in that opinion. I think I’ve just grown out of horror (not trying to say it’s childish or anything just shit at phrasing). Main girl was very good though.

That one scene in the bedroom got me good. Had some trouble being alone in the dark after that for several days. Thankfully I have doggies and a wife so not sleeping alone. I would have prob had to sleep with the lights on otherwise.

Yeah, really liked Talk to Me.

V/H/S Beyond is alright as well.

      Salem’s Lot is awful.

Quiet Place Day One was surprisingly decent.

Haven’t got around to watching The Substance yet, but I’ve heard good things.

I can’t believe they had the gall to release it in cinemas. It’s got “straight to streaming” written all over it.

They must be actively trying to hurt theatres at this point.

Hahaha I just watched smile and yeah that was dope! I’ll definitely check out the second one once it leaves theaters… Gonna start substance now.

Haven’t seen the second one yet, but the scene where she was sitting in the car is one of my favorite horror moments.

Yeah, longlegs didn’t impress me either. Its a great looking film, with some decently creepy moments, and a cool setting, but yeah, in terms of horror, nothing new or particularly memorable.

The first 15ish minutes of Longlegs are great but it just fizzles out over the remainder of its runtime imo

I couldn’t get through Talk To Me.

The teenagers were written to be so off-puttingly obnoxious, I ended up walking out of the theater early. Loved the concept though.

My favorites this year have been the new V/H/S film, Abigail, and Festival of the Living Dead. All this talk of Salem’s Lot makes me want to watch Midnight Mass again.

I know I’m the odd one out, but I haven’t enjoyed most of the critically-acclaimed horror this year.
