  • That does seem like a distinct possibility, and I don’t think it would make anything worse. It’s not like he is going to be locked up during the presidency, so if they do anything else to undercut attempts to hold him accountable, it only makes their reputation worse.

And if the US recovers, after several years or after many years, it’s good to have more information about exactly how f***** up that court was so we know what kinds of things we need to try to prevent from ever happening again. Do we need a constitutional amendment to prevent the court from accepting bribes? How about one that says the president can’t pardon themselves? How about one that says convicted felons can’t run for office? There are all sorts of constitutional amendments that we didn’t know we needed until this court came about. So please, let them deliver more to us, especially if it’s a situation like this where there wasn’t going to be justice anyway.

  • All of those things you posted sound good, but if you look at the details and execution, it’s either a pathetically laughable attempt or something they should have done 3 years ago.

    Prosecute companies for wage theft.

Start splitting up monopolies at the beginning of your presidency or vice presidency, not at the end.

Don’t destroy the train union and then pretend that you’re pro-union because you went to one picket line. And as I recall, it was Joe who went.

When you push for non-competes or you push for student loan forgiveness, and the Republicans find legal ways to stop your efforts, find other legal ways to continue your efforts. If you just shrug your shoulders and say we tried, but we couldn’t make your lives better, of course nobody is going to think that you meant a word you said.

The Democrat said 4 years to deliver, or at least to show that they tried very hard to deliver, and they chose to do neither of those. Which is sad.

And if Harris is telling us what she wants to do in the future, we’re immediately going to ask why she and Joe didn’t already do it in the past. When we don’t get an answer, we just shrug our shoulders. It’s more of the same from Washington politicians. Democrats in Washington certainly represent somebody, but that somebody isn’t you and me.

  • I’ve heard the argument from practicality for decades, but it just doesn’t pass the laugh test. When George Bush started the Iraq War, was that practical? No. When Donald Trump did everything Donald Trump does, was that practical? No. But they made big changes. Bad changes, but big changes.

So why is it that only the Republicans can make big changes? I think it’s because your position is the coward’s position. If you never try to make the country better in a major way, because you’re convinced it’s impossible, of course you’re always going to fail. And voters know this. We understand why people are afraid to take big steps, but we don’t respect it.
