I’m not an HVAC technician so I wouldn’t know exactly, but I think there’s two things to consider: static pressure and duty cycle. Static pressure is the fan working hard to spin which causes wear on bearings. Duty cycle is how long the machine runs. If your duty cycle is too low then the machine is turning on and off quickly which is bad.
You could look at the size of the unit and there’s some rules of thumb that translate size, climate, and square footage of just the areas you leave the vent open and there are online calculators you can use.
I think the only way to know for sure is to measure the pressure drop across the intake and outflow and see what the fan motor is rated for.
Depends on the unit and whether it was over sized or under sized for the space, but restricting 60℅ air flow is a lot.
Another thing to consider is that if you later want to heat up the entire house, the unit has to work harder. Sometimes it can be more efficient to just keep the house close to your target temp.
Hmm well if I’m forced to choose between education and “business concerns”.
I think I’ll pick education. They claim that Washington State has a spending problem not a funding problem. The state spends a lot of money on education supposedly ($14k per student yet we’re still having to close schools) so taking away funding definitely won’t help the matter.
Yeah there’s a few reasons why the offer that wins the buy box (the term for which merchants offer is shown to the customer prominently) and is complex, but I wouldn’t consider it particularly sinister or designed to mislead. If one person has prime and the other doesn’t, it might weight more towards a prime offer which may be more expensive, a price from a merchant may have changed, or gone out of stock.
They’re forging the GPS to look like it’s in the EU. Do we turn off all the EU terminals too?
I’m a little surprised they can’t identify spoofing by comparing the incoming signal to the proposed location. They already have antennas that can be steered using the phased array.
Great if only my family would even believe this as opposed to just saying something about FEMA using DEW and HAARP and space lasers to actually create hurricanes to be able to extract lithium or something.
Computer algorithms solve problems all over the world for companies already. I bet airlines already have teams of people using computer algorithms to figure crew management, flight routing, cost optimization, etc.
The fact that they’re exploring quantum computers and non-classical algorithms just suggests that gate allocation is NP-Hard. Sure things go wrong when computers fail already, Look at Southwest or Delta’s recent meltdown, but to act like this a bad thing is just nonsense. This should be looked at as a good thing that airlines are working on.
Why do you think this is going to replace air traffic control work? It’s picking which gate to park the plane at. This was done by airline and airport operations teams, not ATC. Imagine if you could automatically pick gates to reduce the time a plane spends taxiing and/or minimize time passengers spend walking. That’s 100% a useful application for computer optimization algorithms. Humans aren’t going to do that better and it’s not a function of safety that tower or ground control needs to do.
On Android, you can specify which applications you want included or excluded. Or you can specify that you only route your home LAN IP ranges through wireguard. Both of those would accomplish your goal.
But then you’ve got cities like Morro Bay, CA that are trying to stop a plan to replace a coal plant with a battery storage facility because batteries are supposedly dangerous.
That’s unfortunate that they won’t be able to put that money to better use, but I hope they use this opportunity to improve the system security and reliability.
Then good luck getting a house mortgage because you can’t lend based on future income because it’s not guaranteed. When I bought my house they incorporated the value of my brokerage account. I wouldn’t be able to own a place if they didn’t.
With house mortgages it’s collateralized against the house, a physical object, but it has only a fake value until it’s actually sold because house prices can go up or down.
I didn’t see any references to the homeless in this post and it contained a lot of good insights and discussion about preparedness. Sadly the WA state doesn’t open up a thread on Lemmy yet. One day
I host a server so my friends can join and play when I’m not playing the game.
This is my biggest challenge with this extension. What’s clickbait to one person is not to another. Several times I’ve come across titles that get mangled when rewritten to lose key points. Or the image gets replaced with a random screen grab. There’s a difference between somebody doing the YouTube face and a title with “the craziest stunt you’ve ever seen” and an artist photo with a title saying the “a crazy stunt jump through a burning hoop”. I’m okay with the latter but dearrow will often remove crazy. The is just an contrived example
One person could still say “crazy” makes it clickbait, but having some adjectives are fine
If you’re trying to run a dedicated server and getting an error about being unable to connect to the API. There’s an issue that seems to be affecting Docker setups: https://github.com/wolveix/satisfactory-server/issues/260
If you are port forwarding. I recommend not exposing it on the default port of 25565 and instead expose it as a random port. Then, assuming you have a domain name, create an SRV record that points to your IP and port. This will cut down on the drive by scanners who scan by ports, but won’t totally eliminate it. If you do use the SRV record, your friends won’t even notice there’s a different port.
The alternative is to let certain countries de facto claim a region because others are too afraid to call them on their BS
If you didn’t know already, many smart plugs are not rated for the amount of power that fridges and other compressor based appliances. They can overlosd the plugs and cause failures or fires. Also shutting off a compressor mid cycle increases the wear.
