In this instance, I can see that the bot responded to you with a confirmation that it added the game to the queue.

Still on the fence with this format, I don’t really feel any excitement for these qualifiers. Feels like there will be too much leeway for the heavy weights to miss out on the knockout stages.

You first tag didn’t direct to lemmy.world so the bot wasn’t notified. When tagging someone on Lemmy you should be able to open their profile by clicking on the tag when done correctly.

You can change how long before kickoff the bot will post a live thread with the command demonstrated with the Bot Maintainer account. The time input is in seconds.

Only mods/admins can change it for a community.

In regards to live updates, the bot checks for messages once every minute. It updates the live threads every 30 seconds, however I’ve changed it so that it only updates every 10 minutes until 30 minutes before kickoff. Just to spare ESPN from being needlessly spammed.

The bot requires approval (whitelisting) from your moderators/admins, not mine. LiveThreadBot will work for any community federated with lemmy.world. Alternatively you can very easily run your own instance of the bot.

I can’t speak for Sweden or Denmark, but Norway is a fairly proud country when it comes to sports, we like the idea of being the little guy punching above our weight. For most people the idea of joining up with our Scandinavian (friendly) rivals is completely foreign.

Personally I’d rather go another 20 years without qualification than cheering on a Swede or Dane. Swedes and Danes may not be as hostile to idea as Norwegians though, as they don’t have the history of being occupied by the others.

How harsh would the penalty have to be to make their cheating not worth it?

Taking away all their “ill gotten” trophies and relegating them wouldn’t do too much. People would still remember them as the dominant Premier league team that won a treble.
