  • MNDAA are descendents of ethnic Han Chinese who ran away to Burma to escape from Manchurian Qing dynasty forces which took over ethnic Han dynasty Ming. MNDAA itself was a faction of the second iteration of Burmese Communist Party formed by China after the original BCP collapsed. They are armed by China, and as seen here, takes directions from Beijing.

NUG formed by democratically elected parliamentarians from 2020 election is seen by Beijing as being too close to Western governments and thus is not favored by China. EAOs under the influence of China including the largest militia in the world United Wa State Army do not cooperate with NUG.

  • We’ve needed a better industrial policy/strategy for quite sometime now, way before Trudeau happened. We have been falling behind in productivity, in investment in research and IP, all leading indicators of creation of wealth and prosperity for decades. We just can’t rely on oil and natural resource booms to keep us afloat economically. None of the prior administrations have brought that, and Trudeau’s hasn’t got that vision. Neither does PP quite frankly. He hasn’t said jack that talks to how we’re going to be more competitive, nor does he have the brains for it.

  • Serge Pun is a powerful Burmese-Chinese businessman whose businesses including companies publicly listed in Myanmar and Singapore thrived under prior military and civilian regimes. He has recently fallen out of favor with Min Aung Hlaing and was detained by the Junta for alleged financial crimes.

Born to Burmese-Chinese parents in Burma who were communist party members. In his youth his whole family escaped to Beijing and were welcomed by the Chinese as citizens when military junta took over Burma in 1961 and communist guerillas became the main focus of the army. As an adult he later moved to Hong Kong then Singapore and began establishing businesses in Burma with “funds” from overseas. He later renounced other citizenships and reclaimed Burmese citizenship so that he can own real estate in Burma. His communist Chinese links and links to Singapore, a known financial safe heaven for drug lords of Burma makes him a businessman whose moves and career are interesting to follow.
