This is crazy. I’m in exactly the same situation and have been thinking about getting a mobile plan with a Pixel 8 (where I would install GrapheneOS on) as those are getting cheaper with the Pixel 9 out not.

I, too, don’t love the use of AWS/Cloudflare, while I get that you can simply replace AWS S3 with something else for backups, this server setup is innately based on using Cloudflare.

This is sooooo incredibly sad!!! I’m currently on an older iPhone and probably getting a Pixel next month; I would really have liked it if there were a bigger variety of phones where I could live truly Google-free, and I would much prefer not having to give Google money to not be reliant on Google…

Wikipedia will keep running, even if you don’t donate. The Wikimedia foundation (which runs Wikipedia) gets a lot of donations and fund a ton of other stuff apart from Wikipedia, so you’re donation will rather have a chance to decide if these keep running.

My problem here is way more that Musk accepts roughly 80% of censorship requests out of totalitarian countries like Turkey, so his claim to be a “free speech absolutist” of some sort is just objectively false; and while government censorship should always be questioned, this is clearly hypocrisy and not actually meant to promote free speech.

Yeah I get all of that, but for a person living in Germany, the original comment is just plainly false and potentially harmful, so it should rather have been “plastic recycling is a scam in most of the world”, which makes regional differences clear and does not appear like there was something inherently non-functional with recycling plastic.

I understand the downvotes as the comment seems kind of inappropriate, but - as others pointed out - pederasty was really wide spread in Ancient Greece and people thought of boys not in puberty as “good-looking” in a romantic/sexual way, as fucking creepy and weird as we think that is today, so the comment is not entirely wrong: this is the same beauty standard that thought of boys as sexually attractive.
