Not one that required a subscription to operate, but I’ve heard those are out there too.
I lost some, I won some.

I guess I’m not surprised enshittification of physical objects is becoming more of a trend than an oddity, but it’s still happening sooner than I expected. :/
You could almost call it… a mouse trap
(I’ll show myself out…)
Per hour? It’s all a blur to me at this point.
War crimes “in honor of Shabbat”? I hope any remaining diaspora members of conscience who haven’t already been troubled by all this are hearing about this framing. Both horrific in its malevolence and a misrepresentation of Judaism all in one go!
Thanks for the link. Not a bad distraction! I hope there’s a large catalog in case I want to treat it like the random Stumble button of yore (which I must have hit hundreds of times at least).
StumbleUpon was the best. I do miss it.
All I can think is how incredibly shameful it is for this kind of behind-the-scenes bullying to be happening, but the persons responsible apparently must not see shame in it somehow…?
Thanks, that sounds more like what I thought I heard about them before (though I think there’s a touch more regulation in Canada, even here I know it’s still predatory and should be avoided).
Seems to me it’s because so many people don’t have coherent political ideals of their own and are just identifying with this or that player or team. Lack of media literacy and the corporate control of mass media play into propagating this problem further, though it starts with upbringing, much like a religion.
There are ways to debate political issues without tying anything back to political parties. For a long time now, we could have used more of that both in schools and in the media.
Do payday lenders (like Money Mart or whatever) not charge fees unless someone is late on a payment? I honestly don’t know how they work. I was under the impression that similarly, the only way Klarna and the others made money was by late payment fees since whenever they come up in a checkout it always says there are no fees (which I take to mean if payments are on time).
Horrific and sickening, to see an aid organization treated like this, especially knowing the situation in Gaza. Depraved actions like these will not be forgotten by decent people of the world.
If it ever comes to it, rioters are probably going to go after celebrities (possibly including influencers). There seems to be an increasing trend of people being turned off by inauthentic charm and conspicuous consumption, these days. Also, more and more of them seem to have been born into the life (like a child of a celebrity) rather than being elevated from working class life.
Wow. Moving someone to another location and then suddenly firing them for “communication standards?” Unless there’s some highly compelling evidence to indicate otherwise, it’s pretty clear cut what happened here. I guess they calculate it’s better to pay a fine for a wrongful dismissal than to have a supervisor that is sympathetic to workers.
I agree comparing a province to whole countries is a weird way to go about it. Ideally you’d find a comparable region in other countries to compare at least. But that data is probably hard to find. If it was part of a series with every province and territory getting their own poster though, that could kinda work.
