It’s worth reading up on the group behind the recent Republican bills legalizing child labour: Foundation for Government Accountability. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundation_for_Government_Accountability

They’re best known as an opposition group against social welfare programs including SNAP (aka food stamps) and Medicaid. So pro child labour, anti welfare.

They state they raised $14.5 million in 2023 toward this effect. Now seriously imagine: wealthy people spending millions of dollars toward trying to keep kids from eating meals and low-income families from having a safety net.

And they’re one more group tied into Heritage Foundation and Project 2025, natch. So if Trump were elected, they stand to be heard better than ever.

It truly was amazing. At that time, I lived on 19th street in Philadelphia. The four seasons hotel is also on 19th. When I heard that there was a press conference scheduled for the four seasons, I called a friend of mine who was working there and asked him about it. He said “we’ve been getting a lot of calls, but nothing is scheduled to be here”.

I hung up and was glued to the news, trying to figure out what was going on.
