No, but to have food shopping budget split amonsts them is illogical.

I read it, just had nothing to add.
For the record, I disagree with the AI funding, CEO pay and pocket stuff. It doesn’t make me hate them though. They build the biggest open source alternative to Google dictating standards for web. That’s massive. I strongly dislike google for a multitude of reasons and hating a company that challenges that is a strange position to take. If Firefox goes, we’re mega fucked.
Maybe place your anger with the actual bad actors in the browser space.
Separate issue entirely. I’m talking specifically about Fediverse investment and why that was the final straw.
I thought the discussion was about that and not a “I hate Mozilla” greatest hits.
You can always throw in that Google fund them and a 10 year old bug that hasn’t been resolved if that was your purpose.
I guess ranting can help you feel better, so I hope it helped.
You go shopping without money in your account?
No. It’s trying something. If company’s get punished for investing and trying something, others won’t even try in future. I respect they tried. If I was in charge, I wouldn’t have bothered.
Why does it matter that they don’t run an instance? Most open source projects do not.
As long as they keep an account on an instance and keep it up to date, this is the main thing.
Hate is a strong emotional decision for a company making an internet browser…

How many open source projects actually run and moderate instances?
Don’t need them. Halifax has online banking in a browser. When they merged with Lloyd’s, they moved systems so I’m assuming it’s the same for Lloyd’s.
I personally would go with the previous model, and the A version. When 7 came out, I got a 6A for £299 new. Wouldn’t spend much more unless I had to.
It does take space on the hard drive. Can easily remove desktop shortcuts. Telemetry on open source software doesn’t usually happen without consent and you can turn it off (Firefox for example).
This is more of a feeling type thing. If it makes you feel good though, go ahead.
Non-running software doesn’t affect performance as it isn’t anywhere near your RAM or CPU. What often people perceive of bloat is frequently software dependencies that are likely to be used over the course of the OS’s usage.
Often I have found bloat free setups end up taking hours of digging out dependencies on multiple occasions. Life is too short. I have things to build.
Chromium can fuck off. FF is king.
Rolling distro, up to date kernel, very good KDE support, stable?
OpenSuse Tumbleweed has got you covered.
Though this weird bloat fetish usually leads to Arch…
Did he though, or his friends? The whole concept of manslaughter, and murder in the first and second degree is based on intent. Robbing a place is not as bad as murder, I’m sorry. That’s ridiculous.
Guns can be used a deterrent. I mean, the US have nukes. Mutually assured destruction. There isn’t the intent to use it, just to have it to protect yourself. It’s weird they hold kids to a higher standard than their own foreign policy.
Breaking and entering is stupid. It isn’t a plan to murder someone though.
I’m from the UK here. That would be manslaughter. Not murder. The whole concept of felony murder is insane and illogical. They went in to rob a place, and theft here would probably be like 5 years actual time behind bars. Here, the case would sit against the cop, and it would be weighed up to be self-defence, so no real charge. This dude, unless he had intention to kill, but simply was involved in the process of theft, then he really shouldn’t be held responsible for other people’s actions because he made a decision to go there. He’s just a dumb kid who made a silly mistake. Basically taking their life away for a fuck up.
The part of the brain that processes risk isn’t fully developed until like 24ish, so holding them accountable for something they cannot accurately make a decision on is weird punitive nonsense. Has it led to an actual decrease so is effective as a deterrent? Nah.
Have you got a source that shows that data of FF users actually went to AccuWeather or is this purely speculation?
I just want to say thank you for providing the instance.
For myself, lemmy.world and lemmy.ml are strictly politically one way or another and perhaps somewhat intolerant of other views. I like how this space is something that can be a gateway into interacting with users of all persuasions without the “quick, defederate them all” nonsense. I only hope and wish that lemm.ee grows to maintain it’s position as one of the key cornerstones of the lemmy community.
Thanks for providing this space and persisting. I can imagine it has not been easy.
I’ve been happy with it on Pixel 6a. It feels good to know my phone isn’t spying on every little thing I do.
Closing down an instance you chose to run is malicious? If you cannot fully moderate it, it can take your reputation. The labour cost isn’t insignificant and is not something they should be focussing on.
