Nice banter
Is your password longer than 60 characters?
I hope not. They host a lot of interesting communities, and have a lot of users.
Interesting post from lemm.ee’s admin on defederation as a last resort: https://lemm.ee/post/35472386?scrollToComments=true
And I’m saying this as someone who’s been trying to get !linux@programming.dev as a viable alternative to the Lemmy.ml community
That’s usually not the case on other communities
I just remembered it is even on their roadmap: https://codimd.tyhou12.xyz/s/TukD_H96z#Multi-communities
Alternative, https://catbox.moe/ can be an option to not overload the instance storage
Hello!
You can post them on !interestingasfuck@lemm.ee, they will fit with the other content there, and that community already has a bit of a following. Should be easier than restarting the LW community or starting another community from scratch.
If at some point there is too much content (which would be a nice issue to have ha ha), we can always split communities later.
Feel free to upvote this issue on Github: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/818
What we need is more homegrown communities that grow naturally by attracting people.
That’s probably the biggest issue.
How are people supposed to hear about Lemmy at the moment?
Reddit got really popular when it started to become the “one place to find answers about anything”. And it still is to an extend. While Reddit is still there, it will be hard for Lemmy to really emerge.
We’ve been stagnating at 48k-50k for the last few months, there is a risk of more and more people leaving over time, leading to the end of the platform
Good to know, thanks!
Good to hear!
Are they all active ? I just opened !horror@lemmy.ml and the last post was 18 days ago
Reddit is arbitrary.
Welcome here. People might be arbitrary too, but their power is limited.
At least 3 communities thar are not “tech news, political propaganda and memes”
Feel free to contribute there, I guess it’s easier to criticize than build something

Happy to find another user here!
You could have volunteers working on the communication aspect. That doesn’t have to be a paid position.
I’ll let db0 suggest a better phrasing for the “we’re still in beta” part
Having a look, the only instance with more than 250 monthly active users on 18.4 is Beehaw. They decided to not update after their disagreement with the Lemmy devs.
Interesting indeed
Is he? I wasn’t aware of that
On the phone?
