If you can bear to get a lot closer, these little nuggets are actually pretty cute. They have stripes that can be nice blues, yellows and greens. They are excellent hunters, and their main prey are pests that are actually a cause for concern.
My partner and I call them “basement friends”.
I’m sure they’re wonderful, but centipedes make my skin crawl. I prefer spider friends.

It’s a house centipede. They’re good guys, especially if you don’t like spiders.
If you don’t like spiders how is this better? I’d imagine people who hate spiders won’t fare any better with house centipedes.
Fair point. My guess would be they might like a trade-off of 1 centipede for dozens or hundreds of spiders. But I don’t mess with the house spiders either, they’re cool too.
