Make sure you have a hole in the bottom so rain can drain out and won’t flood the birds.
Also, gourds, squashes and melons are sluts, that can cross pollinate with a compatible variety up a half a mile away more. The seeds may not grow into the same type of gourd that they came from. But at least you are not targeting an edible variety, that could become poisonous, so it’s worth a shot.
