It’s worth noting that Gatwa’s statement appears to contrast somewhat with those made recently by showrunner Russell T Davies.

He wrote in the most recent issue of Doctor Who Magazine: "The decision to commission Season 3 won’t be made until after Season 2 has transmitted. And that’s always been the deal since the start. Hey, we might even have a day off!

Is a lowly Doctor Who star implying that all the online armchair doomsayers declaring the show "dead/woke/Disneyfied/the source of the Western world’s decline” … were blowing smoke out their asses?!

Looking forward to at least three full, if too short seasons of Ncuti at the TARDIS controls! 💙💙

Edit: somebody actually watched the episode of Graham Norton, and it seems the line in question has been cut from transmission?

    Let the wild speculation begin…

It’s certainly encouraging that he’s at least expecting to do a third series. I’ve always assumed that the BBC would carry on even if the Disney deal ends.

Yeah, and even if it’s just a preliminary scheduling of an actor in fairly high demand, “sometime next year” is encouraging. Hopefully The war between what was it again will be a tolerable buffer between proper Doctor Who seasons.
