All we need now is a politician to decide that ChatGPT Assumed Intelligence is cheaper than those pesky humans and makes them entirely autonomous … what could possibly go wrong?

What will they do if let us say some pirates try to hijack it? Disable it? Pretty sure it won’t be easy to attack pirates on a boat, by controlling weapons remotely.

So, this has already kind of happened. Both China and Iran have grabbed small US Navy drones and claimed they were “navigational hazards”. Mind you, the ones they took were small enough to fit in the bed of a pickup truck.

Right now, there are a few things the Navy is doing:

      1. Unmanned ships sail with manned ships. That makes it hard for anyone to just climb aboard and take over the controls.

      2. Ironically manning the unmanned ship. There’s an international agreement that requires all vessels have a manned helm and a continuous lookout. There have been proposals to have a skeleton crew aboard until the tech is more or less bulletproof.

      3. This is conjecture on my part, but they could weld hatches shut and plant a bunch of TNT in the superstructure. That’ll stop boarders in their tracks.
