This is from Denmark. I think UK and Ireland also have similar looking scenes with those long grasses, sandy beaches and rolling hills. I wonder, though if there’s such place somewhere in Southern Europe because it’s closer to me. All I’ve found around the Black Sea and the Mediterranean are more arid landscapes and the grasses aren’t as long usually. Obviously I don’t expect to get the same architecture, it’s more about the grass, sandy beaches and small hills.

No. It is much much more arid, and vegetation is obviously built to match.

Parts of Brittany and Guerande in France, and northwest Portugal look somewhat like this. I think that is the closest you will find.

Maybe geographically closer, but not what one would think of southern.

    Actually southern is too arid.

Some of the islands of Croatia might work, Pag comes to mind. Beautiful, windswept in autumn/winter (no people too), known for fantastic sheep cheese. In spring and summer it manages to be hot, humid, and airless.

Not Southern Europe, but I recently spent time in a little town by the dunes in the Netherlands (Castricum), and it looked a lot like this, even some of the architecture

Yea, there are lots of places like that in Portugal, from what I remember backpacking in Portugal.

Italian is also rife with small cottages like that, Sicily especially.

as long as you’re not in one of the main cities, there are little houses and beach chalets all along the countrysides.

I’ve seen chalets that look exactly like that in France, but not near the coasts, I wasn’t looking at beachside properties while I was looking at French houses.

I would look at the coastlines you’re interested in first and scan real estate asking along those stretches of land because especially in Europe, there are bound to be beach houses dotted along it, especially the further you get away from cities.
