Apple Records releases Badfinger’s first single, “Come and Get It” in the UK. The Paul McCartney written tune would climb to #4 on the Official Chart. It would be released in America on January 12th, 1970 and rose to #7, becoming the first of the band’s four Billboard Top 40 hits.
Their next album ‘No Dice’ was released the same year. It included track ‘Without You’, written by Banfinger, which was -not- released as a single (showing how expert their managers were).
McCartney later called it ‘the killer song of all time’. Harry Nilsson turned it into a US#1 in 1971.
@kalkulat@lemmy.world where have you been?!? I miss you so much!
Weird, this somehow popped up in my mentions.
That’s my bad, messed up my tagging accidentally. Sorry about that!

Read more about Badfinger today, that band really got shafted. While they were making records for Apple Records, it was breaking up. Then most of the money they made was stolen by their manager. That’s almost worse than teen bands who sucked in by the NYC music mafia in the early 60s, like The Teenagers.
